The eleventh day of the eleventh month – this is Remembrance Day in Canada. We gather at cenotaphs and memorials in more than 2,000 cities, towns and villages throughout the country to honour and remember those who have made the sacrifice for Canada. Join us at the Flato Markham Theatre for the City of Markham’s ceremony honouring our veterans on November 11.

Euchre – 1-3:30pm in the Centre Hall

Event Description

Throughout the summer and early fall, the City of Markham will be connecting with residents and local community service providers to help create Markham’s Older Adult Strategy. This comprehensive plan will help ensure Markham is ready to address the challenges of an increasingly older population, and is aligned with the City’s goal for an engaged, diverse and thriving City as outlined in Building Markham’s Future Together: 2015-2019 Strategic Plan.  Are you 45 years of age or older and live or work in Markham?  Be part of the conversation!

 On Monday, September 12th, Seniors 65+ will receive FREE Zoo admission and Zoomobile ride from ListenUp! Canada. Throughout the day Seniors will have the chance to receive a hearing test in the Wildlife Marquee plus enjoy other fun promotions from 9:30am to 3:30pm. Seniors, 65+ will also receive a 10% discount off of their purchase at Africa, Americas and Peacock Cafe Restaurants.  Click HERE for details.

Please be advised that the Club will be closed on Labour Day, Monday September 5th.  The only activities that will run on this date are:

Table Tennis – 8am-12pm in the North Hall

Euchre – 1-3:30pm in the Centre Hall

Bridge – 1-4pm in the South Hall

Regular activities will resume on Tuesday Sept 6th.

Please be advised that parking at the Thornhill Community Centre will be limited  Thursday August 11^th – Sunday August 14^th due to a large skating competition being held throughout the building.

Be sure to plan accordingly.
