Hello Everyone. We hope you are keeping safe and well.
A letter has been issued to address all Senior facilities and programs within the City of Markham.
It’s important that our Members know that the Thornhill Seniors Club is in a unique situation compared to other Centres within the City of Markham. TSC is currently working hard with the City to plan a safe return to Seniors programming within the Thornhill Community Centre by late Fall. Updates will be provided once we have something in place.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, fraudsters will try to take advantage of Canadians. Keep current with potential COVID-19 scams involving websites, emails, texts and calls at the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
If you would like to share a memory of TSC Volunteer, Mary Deane, please visit her Memorial Page and click ADD A MEMORY. The family would love to hear from you and may incorporate your message into Mary’s funeral service to be live streamed on Tuesday August 4th at approx 2:30pm. Link to view service will be available closer to the 4th.

“As York Region moves into Stage 3 this Friday, more businesses will reopen, which will lead to more interactions and that means we all need to be more vigilant”.
We would like to take this opportunity to honour extraordinary TSC Volunteer, Mary Deane, who sadly passed away on Wednesday July 15th, 2020.
If you visited the Cafe on Friday mornings or attended our lunches, Cafe events or BBQs, you’ve likely had the pleasure of meeting Mary on Volunteer duty. Known affectionately as the “Energizer Bunny” (she keeps going, and going..), Mary has been an immense help to the Club since it’s opening over 15 years ago. Always willing to jump in and help – whether serving hot dogs in the sweltering heat of summer, staying late to clean up after a big event or walking through a snow storm for her morning Cafe shift when she couldn’t get her car out of the driveway…she did it all with a smile. Her positivity was contagious and her hard work and dedication unmatched. Among so many things, we will miss her distinctive laugh and wicked sense of humour 🙂 She was a ray of sunshine on a dark day and an inspiration to us all.
Mary will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by her many friends at TSC. A gathering at the Club will be arranged once we have safely reopened.
It’s great to still feel connected while we are physically apart. That’s why Markham Public Library has launched Keeping Connected – a phone check-in service for our community. When you sign up you’ll receive a call from MPL staff once, weekly or biweekly. A library card is not required.
They can offer library program information, help with online services, Reader’s Advisory (reading suggestions based on your reading interests), as well as find information about community services or simply for a friendly phone call and light conversation.
If you would prefer to register by phone, please call Harman Singh Malhi at 416-294-1964. Please share this with other Members who you think may be interested.
