Who can join the Thornhill Seniors Club (TSC)? As of August 2025, new TSC memberships are available only to City of Markham residents aged 55+. New out-of-area members (Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Toronto, etc) can not be accepted at this time.
How much is the annual membership fee? Markham Residents 55-64 years of age – $52; ages 65-89 – $40; Non-Residents (RENEWALS ONLY) ages 55-64 – $64; ages 65-89 – $50. Membership is free of charge for those aged 90+ but registration is still required. Fees include HST. Membership is valid from Sept 1, 2025 – Aug 31, 2026. Fees are not prorated.
Where do the annual Membership fees go? 100% of membership fees go to the City of Markham for use of community centre space, maintenance & staff support.
How do I join? Join (or renew) in person at the club between 11am-1pm Mon-Fri or at the community centre reception desk across from the library 8:30am – 8:30pm including weekends. ID with proof of address required. Payment by debit or credit card only. What are the Thornhill Seniors Club hours of operation? Our front desk, cafe & tv lounge are open & staffed by volunteers 11am-1pm Monday-Friday (excluding holidays). For TSC activities running outside of these hours, please use alternate community centre entrances. Our front desk phone number is 905-944-3781.
What programs & activities do you offer? A complete list of our daily activities & pre-registered programs can be found on our website under Programs & Activity Schedule. Special events, lessons, etc are posted on the main blog and emailed directly to those who follow.
How do punch cards work? Punch cards save members money by reducing drop-in fees from $3 to $2. Some restrictions apply – read here. Active membership card is required to purchase. Cards are available at the TSC front desk for $20 each. Please bring exact cash as we may not have change. No refunds for lost or unused cards. Drop-ins for Members 90+ are FREE.
How do Pre-Registered Programs work? Yoga, Chair Yoga, Zumba, Line Dance, Osteo Fitness & several art classes are offered in four sessions per year – Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall. Registration dates, times & fees are posted on our site & in the Club several weeks in advance of each session. See Programs & Activity Schedule for information on our current and upcoming sessions. Registration is done in-person at the TSC Front Desk on dates & times indicated. Payment by exact cash only. Spots are limited. Registration priority is given to existing students. No early registrations. Late registrations are accepted at a prorated fee if space remains. TSC Membership badge is required to register. No drop-ins, partial sessions, refunds or credits for missed classes.
Can I receive a refund or credit for missed classes? TSC no longer offers refunds or credits for missed classes unless due to unexpected class cancellation.
Do you offer lessons? Yes, we occasionally offer Bridge, Canasta, Tai Chi, Euchre and other lessons, based on demand, instructor availability & available program space. Any upcoming lessons will be posted to the website & on the bulletin board near the lounge about a month in advance. Sign up will be done at the front desk during operating hours.
What payment method does TSC accept? Cash only. At this time, TSC does not accept credit card, debit or e-transfers.
Does TSC offer travel opportunities? TSC is now partnering with Year Round Travel to offer day & overnight trips. We will also occasionally arrange casino trips. Travel information can be found on the bulletin board by the cafe.
Does TSC offer special events? TSC offers educational presentations, lunches, BBQs & cafe events throughout the year. Info will be posted on the website and on our bulletin board in the Cafe. Sign up will be at the TSC front desk.
How do I hear about the latest Club news? Visit our website at tsclub.ca and look for FOLLOW BLOG VIA EMAIL. Type in your email address and click FOLLOW. You will be sent a confirmation email (check your junk/spam mailbox if you have not received it). Once you agree, you will receive all notifications as they are posted on our website.
How do I know if a class or program has been cancelled? Sometimes programs/classes must be cancelled or relocated due to building construction/maintenance, bad weather or if an instructor is unable to make it in.
