Senior Volunteer Appreciation Week Act – Invitation to Consultation (Today)

To TSC Members & Volunteers.  Letter from the Office of Billy Pang, MPP Markham-Unionville:

“On behalf of MPP Billy Pang, I am pleased to invite Members and Volunteers of the Thornhill Seniors Club to MPP Billy Pang’s Private Member’s Bill, Bill 270 Senior Volunteer Appreciation Week Act, 2021 Consultation on Monday, May 17th, from 4pm-5pm

The PMB Bill, entitled Senior Volunteer Appreciation Week Act, was introduced in the Legislative Assembly on March 30th, 2021. This Bill, if passed, aims to acknowledge senior volunteers across Ontario by proclaiming the first seven days of June in each year as Senior Volunteer Appreciation Week.

MPP Billy Pang hopes that this Private Member’s Bill will further strengthen our communities’ relationship with our senior volunteers and encourage our seniors to continue volunteering. Our seniors have impacted our communities in many ways, and this Bill will allow our province to take one more step forward to appreciating our seniors.

The objectives of this consultation are to:

  • Seek feedback and thoughts on this Bill;
  • Listen to your personal experiences/stories with volunteering and/or with a senior volunteer; and
  • Answer questions you or your organization may be having regarding this Bill.

To RSVP, please visit www.eventbrite.ca/e/153846038643

Need Help Locating Vaccines?

There’s a new texting tool available in Ontario that helps residents find the COVID-19 vaccination clinics closest to them. After texting your postal code to 1 (833) 356-1683, you will receive an immediate text response that will include the name, address, phone number and website of the closest pharmacies to you that are administering vaccines.

Vaccine Hunters Canada is a volunteer, online community that helps eligible Canadians find vaccines.  The City of Toronto has also partnered with them to help get the word out on vaccine availability.  Follow them on twitter or facebook to get up to date information on current and upcoming vaccine availability.
